Sixth Grade

Ms. Agnes Johnson

Julius Fuller recalled his time in sixth grade: “then from that grade, went to the sixth grade and had Ms. Johnson. Her husband was a pastor up here that lived right up the street. H. L Johnson. Her name was Agnes Johnson, and she taught sixth grade. I believe it was in the sixth grade that they started doing the state testing. I think that was in what, [19]59, something like that.”

For sixth grade, Troy Hampton had Ms. Johnson. He recalls the time he “got in a fight on the school bus one time, and she said, “I’m gonna whip you every day for a month when you get off the school bus.” And she would wait, make me go and get switches, and she’d start cuttin’ the blood outta me and stuff.”
